M: Homemade Taco Seasoning Blend

Happy Friday Eve!! Rest assured miss Erica will be back posting very soon I promise! But I've definitely had a blast holding down the Itzy’s fort =) Do you guys have any special weekend plans? Any sweet Vday happenings? I think the hubs and I will just be doing the low key thing…probably a quiet night at the house with our pups and some takeout =) And I am so good with that!

So, onto the topic at hand…I do believe I have perfected my taco seasoning blend and I wanted to try it out the other day on a filling taco salad. I hadn’t made one in a while and thought it would be a nice simple yummy dinner.

Set on top of chopped crisp romaine, I used chopped tomato, black beans, cucumbers, shredded cheese, seasoned ground turkey, tortilla chips placed around the plate, and topped off with my Pace Salsa! (disclaimer: I received this product for free) So good, so filling, so perfect =)

So, here’s my recipe for your own taco seasoning (I think it might rival the premade packet ones!):

Taco Seasoning Blend

1 TB chili powder

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp paprika

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder (I had to use minced since I was out of powder)

1/8 – 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (however spicy you like!)

1/4 tsp pepper

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl and mix into your cooked meat with a small amount of water and let simmer for a few minutes. You’re done!

Enjoy!

Stay tuned because I’ll be posting my Rachael Ray top 10 recipes of 2010 recipe #5: Coconut Chicken Cutlets! Woohoo! Almost halfway there!
